Its been a long time coming... the band Dornenkönig are now ready to present their new album. The band released their debut album in 2012 under the name Schlagwerk and now, as Dornenkönig they have a massive follow up album. The wait has most definitely been worth it!
Dornenkönig play german hard rock with german lyrics full of feeling, energy and emotion but with their musical breadth it‘s actually quite difficult to put them into any one particular genre, suffice to say that their new album „Hell“ is outstanding! There are 13 songs on the album with great melodies, heavy choruses, aggressive riffs and melodic atmospheric keys. The ballads „Still Waters“ (Stille Wasser) and „Angel“ (Engel) are beautifully haunting and have definite radio potential. The road movie-esque „Asphalt Pirates“ (Asphalt Piraten) with its moody atmosphere conjures up images of desert highways and blistering heat. The cover of „Marble, Stone and Iron Break“(Marmor, Stein und Eisen bricht) has certainly never been interpreted in this way before.
The album was produced by the producer Tommy Newton who is globally recognized for a number of legendary albums, so it goes without saying that the album sounds incredible. Dornenkönig have managed to differentiate themselves from the masses to carve their own niche. And they obviously feel very comfortable there, this album is a must for every lover of german rock music.
