In some Indo-European languages, aorist is a special past tense that describes a completed, simple action. Born from the idea of mastermind Kristian Leš, who started writing the first songs back in 2018, Aoryst released their debut album in May 2024, creating a unique and captivating piece of music based on fast thrash metal with a small dose of death and classic metal.

Old School Thrash with HC Attitude!
Founded in Freiburg in 2018, the trio now released their second longplayer, "Toxic Society", which, as with their predecessors, should appeal to fans of old school thrash with a punk/hardcore attitude. In the fall of 2019, the guys spent four weeks on tour in Europe supporting The Exploited before their further development was abruptly interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, as is the case with many bands.
At the end of 2022, the follow-up to their 2021 debut was recorded at Iguana Studios under the direction of Christoph Brandes (e.g. Craving, The Spirit, Pessimist) and see the light of day in early 2024. "Headshot ... Makes Us Survive" - is the refrain of the opener "Day Of The Dead" of the 1996 debut of the Brunswick thrash metal institution HEADSHOT, who will celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2023! On the occasion of this event selected songs of the debut "Brain At Risk" (1995) and the follow-up album "Emotional Overload" (1998) completely re-recorded and recorded on CD for the first time with frontwoman Daniela Karrer, who as you know joined the band only in 2008.

Rude Thrash Metal Neckbreaker!
Die bereits 1993 gegründeten (seit 2008 mit Daniela Karrer female fronted) Braunschweiger Headshot sind seit Jahren eine Bank wenn es um deftigen, aggressiven, SF Bay Area inspirierten, Thrash Metal aus deutschen Landen geht. Auch wenn das letzte Studioalbum schon einige Jahre zurück liegt, war das Quintett nie von der Bildfläche verschwunden, sondern berackerte unermüdlich deutsche und internationale Bühnen.
Anno 2022 meldet sich die Band mit „Eyes of the Guardians“ endlich auch an der Tonträgerfront zurück und stellt unter Beweis, dass man noch lange nicht zum alten Eisen gehört und in Sachen Brutalität und Härte nichts verlernt hat. Im Gegenteil: Die vorliegenden 10 Songs sind geradezu eine Lehrstunde in Sachen nackenbrecherischen Thrash, wobei es der Band gelingt, ohne mit ihrem Stil zu brechen, darauf durchaus auch neue Töne anzuschlagen und das Album so zum zweifellosen Höhepunkt ihres bisherigen Schaffens zu machen. Gerade Frontfrau Daniela Karrer überrascht, neben ihren brutalen Shouts und vereinzelten Grunts, mit ungewohnten melodische Passagen. Reviving the phoenix!
Bereits auf ihren ersten drei Alben zelebrierte die Band um Arkadius Antonik (Suidakra) und Sascha Aßbach einen galanten Ritt durch die verschiedenen Facetten des brachialen, modernen Metals. In den letzten Jahren wurde es dann etwas ruhiger um FALL OF CARTHAGE, doch anno 2022 bringen die Groove Metaller ihr hier vorliegendes viertes Album an den Start und haben somit dem Phoenix neues Leben eingehaucht! „Drawn Into Madness“ bietet 34 Minuten schonungsloses, straightes Geballer. Blastbeats, eingängige Riffs und groovige Rhythmen, die kaum Zeit geben seinen Nacken zu entspannen, wobei die Band sich auch im Jahr 2022 erfolgreich davor drückt in einer allzu beengenden Genrekiste zu landen. Dafür sind die Songstrukturen in Kombination mit den facettenreichen Vocals Aßbachs, zu vielfältig und entfalten eine mitreißende Dynamik.
Dazu trägt auch der kompromisslose brachiale Gesamtsound bei, für den sich Arkadius diesmal selbst verantwortlich zeichnet und welcher auch einem schwedischen Old School Death Metal Album gut zu Gesicht stehen würde. Die Mischung aus intensiven Arrangements und der knochentrockenen Produktion verleiht dem Album einen ganz eigenen Charme. Fall Of Carthage sind musikalisch erwachsener geworden, ohne dabei ihre musikalischen Freiheiten aufgeben zu müssen und liefern mit „Drawn Into Madness“ ihr wohl stärkstes Werk.

Ten years after their first demo, the Greeks of Exarsis are preparing to release their fifth full-length album, once again rising the flag of old school thrash metal.
After a change in the line-up on the drums and the return of founding member and guitarist Chris Tsitsis (Suicide Angels a.o.), "Sentenced To Life" is probably the most melodic album of their discography to date, which nevertheless contains the typical Exarsis feeling, also because they keep pushing the accelerator pedal pretty hard.
As a surprise there are guest appearances of Pyros Lafias (Chronosphere) and Lefteris Xatzhandreou (Bio-Cancer) in the song "...Against My Fears", which is about overcoming depression and the fight against the inner demons.
Like the two previous releases, the album was produced by Mike Karpathiou in D-Studio. The artwork is by Dan Goldsworthy (Accept, Xentrix, Gloryhammer).

Old School Melodic Death Metal Highlight !
Seit 25 Jahren ziehen BATTLESWORD nun schon ihre Kreise durch schwermetallische Gefilde und legen zu diesem Anlass ihren fünften Longplayer vor, welcher in seinem Titel "(XX)V" sowohl auf das Jubiläum, als auch die Albumnummer anspielt. Auch den Zusatz „Of Tales And Tragedies“ kann man getrost als Anlehnung an die Historie der Band und der Dinge die man in so einer Zeitspanne durchlebt deuten.
Musikalisch machen Battlesword unbeirrt dort weiter wo sie zum Glück nie aufgehört haben: Es gibt den typischen Battlesword Sound, der immer mal wieder durch neue Elemente erweitert wurde. Von fast doomigen Parts bis hin zu gnadenlosen Blasts wird die stilistische Abwechslung einerseits nicht überstrapaziert, ist aber dennoch vielschichtig genug um bei den 11 Songs über die komplette Laufzeit nie Langeweile aufkommen zu lassen. Wie schon beim Vorgänger wurde „(XX)V“ im Big Easy Studio in Hennef von Michael "Freio" Haas aufgenommen und gemixt, während man das Mastering erneut in die Hände von Dan Swanö gelegt hat.
Ein Novum in der Battlesword Historie ist übrigens, dass es bei „(XX)V - Of Tales And Tragedies“ keine Änderungen im Line-Up gegeben hat und man sich beim Song "Brethren Of The Sword" quasi eine Hommage an sich selbst erlaubt und gegönnt hat. Darüberhinaus gibt es natürlich nach wie vor genau das, was man von einem zünftigen Melodic Death Metal,- und einem Battlesword Album im speziellen - erwartet.

New edition of the completely sold-out 2018 album by Lower Saxony melodic death/thrashers Final Cry. With "Zombique", the band made an impressive comeback after 11 years of radio silence and released the rawest and heaviest album in their history to date. Guitarist Eiko, who took over the vocals in the meantime, characterizes this album with deep growls (rather unusual for Final Cry up to this point) and contributes a lot to the fact that the content concept, which revolves around voodoo cults and zombie stories among the Caribbean slaves with partly historically documented protagonists and their influence up to the Haitian revolution, also unfolds musically in full brutality.
Recorded and produced under the direction of Jost Schlüter at Pure Sonic Studios in Langelsheim, "Zombique" also features all of the band's trademarks that have grown over the years: merciless riffing, high tempos, great melodies and guitarist Eiko Truckenbrodt's almost unmistakable solos.

Mit „Dread To Dawn“ treten Cassius King auf ihrem Zweitlingswerk erneut den Beweis dieser Aussage an.
Auf 11 Songs wälzt sich das Quartett durch schleppende, ergreifende Melodien, umschlungen von den markanten Vocals von Jason McMaster (Watchtower, Dangerous Toys), welche dem Gesamtsound eine authentische Tiefe verleihen und getrieben von den erbarmungslosen Grooves eines Ron Lipnicki (ex-Overkill, Whiplash). Cassius King ist ein vertontes Gefühl, welchem man mit den Oberbegriffen Doom und Stoner eigentlich nicht gerecht werden kann.
