Stormhunter have been making their mark on the German metal scene since 1998 and, after two EPs (Ready For Boarding, 2020, Strangle With Care, 2022), are now releasing their long-awaited fourth longplayer, "Best Before: Death", in 2024. The band continues their tradition of classic "German Heavy Metal", still dispensing with keyboards in their arrangements and instead increasing the proportion of choirs, which give the songs even more of an anthemic character.
The new album was recorded and produced at Iguana Studios under the direction of Christoph Brandes, while Timon Kokott has provided the whole thing with artwork that illustrates the loose concept of the content, which revolves around death. "Best Before: Death" is described by the band as their "most personal album" to date, as it incorporates various experiences from the band's environment and looks at death from different angles, from loss to redemption.
In the 11 songs, the band refrains from musical experiments, but still offers one or two surprising approaches while rocking their way through exactly 48 minutes with sophisticated guitar work and a variety of melodies.

The germans from Grand Massive have been on the road since 2009 and have been able to gain a steadily growing following with 4 albums and several singles and EPs, as well as retaining it with massive live performances. With "Houses Of The Unholy", the bavarians are now releasing 5 songs that, with a playing time of just under 28 minutes, are not far removed from the longplayers of many other colleagues, but are not a "normal" release for the band itself.
Rather, it is intended to bridge the waiting time for the next, "really long" album. In order to emphasize the special nature of the release, the aim was to bring some old companions on board right from the start. For example, original drummer Holger Stich was on drums for the recordings and Randy M Salo, an old companion of the band, was on bass. Above all, none other than the legendary Bay Area guitarist Doug Pearcy (Blind Illusion, ex-Heathen, ex-Anvil Bitch) recorded almost all the solos!
The album was mastered by Andy Claasen at Stage One Studio and with "Jump In The Fire" they took a Metallica classic and interpreted it in their very own, doomy, massive metal guise! Abyss of Hel was originally founded as a one-man-project by ex-Thrudvangar guitarist Daniel Stromayer. In the course of time, however, the idea quickly matured to give the whole thing more space and the current quintet gained shape and profile. The musical roots are more in American Death Metal, but also Progressive, Punk and Electro influences are found in the arrangements and unite to a modern, melodic and at the same time dark wall of sound.
The present debut album "Into The Abyss" depicts in terms of content the course of the mental breakdown of a man, his descent into the abyss and its realization of an irrevocable reality. The oppressive theme is carried by the intense, provocative and also melodramatic lyrics, which are performed both clean and with haunting growls.

"Headshot ... Makes Us Survive" - is the refrain of the opener "Day Of The Dead" of the 1996 debut of the Brunswick thrash metal institution HEADSHOT, who will celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2023! On the occasion of this event selected songs of the debut "Brain At Risk" (1995) and the follow-up album "Emotional Overload" (1998) completely re-recorded and recorded on CD for the first time with frontwoman Daniela Karrer, who as you know joined the band only in 2008.

Welcome To Pleshiwar, which was only founded in 2021, already caused quite a stir in the German metal scene with their EP "Unsolved", which was released in the same year as their formation, and also received a lot of positive feedback from the trade press for their first sign of life. The year 2021, in the midst of the Covid pandemic, turns out in retrospect to be a year for promising band formations. Sarlic Bliss also have their origins here. In this case, too, we are dealing with musicians active in the scene for many years, who apparently were looking for a new activity for self-realization. In this case, among others, Daniel Fischer (Midnattsol) and Jochen Turn (Bann) are involved.

With "Wrath Of The Witch", the Marburg death metal forge Corrosive presents its seventh and at the same time most unusual album. It was exactly 20 years ago that the German melodic death band BATTLESWORD released their acclaimed full-length debut "Failing In Triumph". A band that became an institution in the German underground in the course of the next few years, and with a further three albums has consolidated this status to this day. Already in 2003 it was the distinctive mix of melodic death metal and Scandinavian old school that characterises the band's style to this day.
